First, I must say.....WOW. On Thursday I was given the gracious privilege to be invited to the Special Olympics as a representative for a sponsor. This is something I had never experienced before, or thought I ever would.
Without telling you how my entire day went, I will just say that I have never been so touched and inspired from any experience. That may sound a bit cliche, and it is. But then I thought as to why it's so cliche - it's the truth and that's all you can really say. You always hear are how special these people are, how genuine, how inspiring, how true they are - it's because they actually are.
As a sponsor, our main duty at the event was to walk with an assigned region (a team) onto the stadium floors as a representative. Upon meeting our region, I didn't know what to expect - but within a few seconds we were all chatting up a storm, joking around, and cheering as if we had known each other for ages. Everyone wanted to shake my hand and thank me, then I thought to myself - I should be the one thanking them.
I'm going to abruptly stop here, because I could honestly not stop writing about this experience. Instead, I'll show you some pictures so you can a feel how amazing this event was....

CTV was covering the event. I got the chance to meet with all the other sponsors/supporters, including Gordon Campbell and Wally Buono

This is part of our region (Go region 7!!). In the middle is Lawrence from JYSK (sponsor), who also happens to be my brother.

An athlete from Region 6...

Just a fraction of Region 6...

In the hallways getting hyped up to walk in!

Here we are. Walking down the stadium...

A view from the box once all the athletes were seated. That's only about 75% of them in the frame... So many amazing people!

The athletes are all currently competing - Good luck to all!
